The so-called Integrated Regional Transport Plan has the Browns Plains
line "pencilled in" for 2007, but of course the IRTP also includes lines
to Kippa-Ring & Springfield, the Toowoomba range deviation, inner city
light rail & even the possibility of light rail to places like Chermside
& Capalaba.

I seriously doubt whether anything in the IRTP will happen - while there
have been lots of promises, very little has happened other than the SE
busway & the airport line (both projects planned & committed during the
Goss & Borbidge governments).

I utterly fail to understand the point of the Cairns tilt - it seems
like we're doomed to repeat the XPT mistake here in QLD. Far better to
spend the money on main line upgrades for FREIGHT, or on building
additional suburban lines (or capacity on existing lines) for Brisbane.
