That's not a fixed limit for all cars, but does apply to the E, W and PL
cars. But then the PLs were limited to 50mph in their last days of regular
service.

Some wooden cars, e.g. the air-con sleepers and Goulburn, can run at
115km/h provided they are inspected before each trip. The V cars are
limited to 65km/h and the veteran cars to 40km/h.
