[NSW] Numbers on Signals

with rgds to signals in the suburban system, it has a code (M, S, L, I, IL etc etc...) plus the
signal number (e.g. 56.3).

what does the following stand for?

NS
I
IL

>From a bit of guesswork, M stands for Main
S stands for Suburban
L would probably be local.
