[NSW] CityRail Delays Friday

Faulty overhead wiring at Warrawee on the North Shore yesterday caused
extensive delays on Friday afternoon on the Cityrail system - report at
www.smh.com.au/news/0003/25/national/national25.html Also reported last
night on Nine news. CityRail blamed Rail Access, maybe technically correct
but does nothing to help the commuters, and doesn't excuse CityRail for not
having adequate contingency plans to deal with the resulting chaos. How
they'll ever cope with the Olympics is anyone's guess.

Some questions I ask -

Why were trains from the city terminated at Lindfield when they could have
gone through to Gordon?
Why is the Sydney System so fragile that a piece of loose wire at Warrawee
causes chaos and confusion as far away as the western suburbs?
Why is the internal communication system so clapped out that even station
staff haven't a clue what is happening?
