Or you could go to a school closer to home (within walking distance, say).

But a lot of kids on free travel passes take them anyway and refuse to stand
when asked.

If your parents can afford to send you to a private school that far from
home, they should be able to afford to pay to get you there as well. Why
should the taxpayer subsidise it? I have to pay to get myself to and from
uni, why shouldn't you?
