Re: [Vic] Metcard - What could be done.
There are many parts of the world without a revalidation requirement.
It is cumbersome and unnecessary.
Once a ticket is valid to 2.00, it cannot become invalid, any more than a
woman becomes unpregnant by not being refertilised daily.
Revalidating slows entry to vehicles and stations, and effectively makes
journeys slower.
Everybody joining this thread should head for Rhein-Ruhr in Germany and
travel there for a day. This isn't the only good system. Wien is not
perfect, but is still more customer friendly than Melbourne (and Sydney).
Sydney isn't a good example, as it doesn't have time-based ticketing.
Adelaide isn't a wonderful system either.
Quote Perth: No barriers and no revalidation.
