According to "sources", this is the current thinking for the realignment
of the Newcastle line.
Mt Colah: minor curve easing
Mt Kuringai: major curve easing
Mt Kuringai - Berowra: 1 in 66 gradient tunnel to Hawkbury River
Berowra: through station underground, possible truncation of existing line
for terminating suburban services
Hawksbury River: Existing causeway, tunnels and bridge
Mullet Creek: major curve easing, new trestle bridge to Woy Woy tunnel
Woy Woy - Gosford: major curve easings, may include Woy Woy relocation
Gosford - Lisarow: major curve easings, relocation of Narara and Niagara Pk
Wyong - Morriset: minor curve easings
Dora Creek, Awaba: 2 routes under consideration for Hawkmount
Fassifern - Teralba: 3 routes under consideration for Fassifern Bank.
Favoured option moves Fassifern 300m west.
Cardiff - Kotara: 2 routes under consideration for Cardiff Bank
Signalling upgraded with provision for 200km/h running.
Cheers
David
