That is EXACTLY the point. Properties close to noise-producing industries -
factories, airport glidepaths, railways - are always somewhat cheaper than
comparable properties that are not so noise affected. I know this for a
fact, I used to live adjacent (less than 30m away) from the main western
railway at Pendle Hill, with coal train going past 24 hours a day. Rent for
a 3 bedroom house? $140pw (going rate $220 in same area).

The point is that you knew the railway was there, you got the financial
advantages through either reduced property prices or reduced rent, you (and
others) should now be forced to pay the piper through noise. If you did not
like it, you should not have bought there.
