You would want a small power conditioner, not UPS. Small UPS tend not to
have any filtering of any kind, they just pass the AC through and switch to
the batteries when the AC fails. The batteries are charged by a small
rectifier. We blew up a number of small Sola Basic UPS due to supply voltage
fluctuation, we put in conditioners instead just to get rid of the voltage
spikes.
Large single phase UPS and all 3 phase UPS are normally of the online type
when the incoming AC is fed through a full load rectifier, into the
batteries, then to the load via the inverter. These are much better as there
is no switching delay when the AC fails. Even with these you still may need
to install some kind of voltage spike protection on the supply side.
