There is really only a minimum 4 track width (i.e. no room for
platforms) North of Chatswood, to the end of the currently stalled
"air rights" construction.  There would also be significant problems
in the actual station area in fitting more platforms into the existing
station.  Using the maximum width available in the existing station
precinct, a St Leonards style "air rights" approach may be viable...
something like this has been hinted at in air rights development
proposals for Chatswood over the past 15 years.... but it would mean
the demolition of the existing station.
