Re: Melbourne Double deckers

Again very interesting, especially 3min allowance...used to see lots of trains
go on the dot!!
You can never be too critical of our (Melb) system..am really looking forward to
seiin gevidence of some vision by the new biys. Melbs system is very
underutilised...there is a mania to make silly ticketing systems , and to take
away travelling customer service personell (formerly guards) and basically make
the system about as much a pain the the neck as possible.
I understand the need to change and improve. Also realise the impost on having
more than one operator of equipment. But they (the brains trust behind all these
things) are often people..analysts, engineers, beureacrats and just plain
idiots; who seldom actually experience the use of the system they torment in any
real time capacity...they think trains ought to do this, and people that...you
almost get the impression that if no one used the trains and they sat idle that
the Boffins would be happy!!

Evening expresses do run and they arent too bad. The concept of cross town
travel is interesting..yet Melbourne is not really that kind of town...you sort
of go into townand then back...sort of like never the twain shall meet (sic).
I think the basics as another postee mentioned are probably important enough tto
get right first, punctuality, cleanliness and safety.....then start upping the
ante with more frequent services, some of which could be a little nuveau in
character.
