Re: level crossing near misses, was Re: problems at ringwood



Grade seperation is the only cure for dickheads that are tempted to race the
train or can't be bothered to wait the few seconds required for the train to
pass.

Unfortunately even grade seperation is not the perfect solution as I know of
two recent collisions (one fatal one last week infact!) with people short
cutting across the track at the base of an over bridge.  The fatal one was a
cyclist and the other was a car.

Red light cameras etc are a good idea but may ultimately deliver some very
graphic photos.

I for one would very much like to here about any usefull solutions in
regards to level crossings.
