Is the arrangement being discussed at Ballarat C and Sulky Loop more
akin to the NSW arrangement where the electrical control of one end of
an electric staff section could be remote-controlled from somewhere else
rather than from the actual instrument at that end?

For instance in latter days (before removal of electric staff
altogether) the section Marrickville Loop - Botany had the instrument at
Marrickville Loop electrically released from Meeks Road.

You also had the situation at Marrickville Loop where the lock on the
DOOR of the staff hut was electrically released by track circuit
occupancy, the whole arrangement evidently reflecting paranoia about
unauthorised persons getting access to the staff instrument.
