Any chance that the line could be extended in standard gauge to start  standardisation northward, or would it be more likely that this would not happen for a long time, or would it be more likely that hell will freeze over!!?
The only talk I have heard goes like this:_
The bridges are in a sad condition, and a loading loop could be built this side of the one at Nerandera, A modern discharge pipe would be built across the old bridge and specialised loading facilities would allow rapid loading of a captive standard gauge train, which would. run back and forwards to Tocumwal on the SG. [A one in eight sleeper relay and some other work could get the line open quickly.
At Tocumwal a new loop with a high speed transfer system similar to Dunolly could make an Economic alternative to running the wheat to Woolongong.
This is not Official...it is only informed talk at work.
Recently in NSW an  Election was held and a local Newspaper quoted Carr as promising that Freight Rail would rebuild the whole line to Tocumwakl, and operate trains to stop Victoria poaching its loads????  Who knows.
