No. The Red Line cars are 10 foot wide, third-rail-only cars (built by
Breda). The Blue Line cars are about 8 feet 9 inches wide, and
have pantographs, but no third rail pads. The Red Line cars are
equipped for an Automatic Train Operation system whereas the
Blue Line cars are not. The Green Line cars are also equipped
for automated operation, altho they are outwardly similar to the
Blue Line cars in other respects (same loading gage and current
collection). Of course, they could in principle run the Blue Line
cars through the subway, but they'd have to do the same sorts
of modifications that, for example, Amsterdam has done to its
schnelltram cars. At present there is no track connection between
the Red and Blue Lines, tho there is a maintenance track connection
(not revenue service) between the Blue and Green lines.
