Automatic points/signals (was: New Signal Panel at Ringwood)

: And Williamstown, set for arrival, then the points change and the signal
: clears. Only switched in when there is a problem or two Up's or two Down's
: in a row. (Remote controlled from Newport 'A')

: The interesting thing about Sandringham and Lilydale is the departure signal
: doen't clear until it is time to depart as it protects a level crossing.

Sorry I forgot to add that while the Upfield Line was 'cut off' in 1997
Flemington Bridge was the same.
Normally set for arrival, and when the platform was occupied (and points
free) the points would change and signal clear, once the train was
clear it would return to arrival.

All removed once the line was re-connected at the 'bottom' end.
(and now dissconnected at the 'top' end)
