150 years of rail in Aust. - Flying Scotsman

Robert's posting about the Flying Scotsman reminded me of its journey down
under. Since (If I calculate correctly) the year 2004 will mark 150 years
of the "Iron Horse" in Australia (notice I say Iron Horse to cover my
backside - if I said rail I might spark off the old argument of what
constitutes a railway!!!!) as the first train was September 12 1854???

Anyway, I was thinking of the Celebrations, could we have the Flying
Scotsman back? Better yet why don't we bring the Mallard over and try and
set a higher speed record across the nullabor!!!???

I'm sure there are many ideas for different thing that could happen, as
surely this occasion is more important than the Bicentenial as far as the
Iron Horse and railways in general are concerned!!??

Isn't it a shame that we couldn't have a re-enactment of the first train
as the Hobson's Bay rail line is no longer complete or operational as a
train line :(
