Prohibitively expensive. Any high speed route would follow the valley
towards Yass, then turn south towards Cootamundra.

That route has been dead for years. Aside from the fact it would never pass
an EIS, the 1991 study estimated that route would cost an extra $1 billion
to built (1991 dollars) and the journey would be 15 minutes longer.
