On another note but in keeping with this theme of tram politics. Does anyone
know about the future of the SEQTA (south east qld transit authority). Labour
proposed it as a kind of autonomous body, but when the nats got in the nats very
quickly squashed it (even though it was already in the legislation as a body).
The idea (or so I am told) was to give the public transport unit (all of about 6
employees) some legislative clout within the IRTP and also to give it some
independance from the transport department (main roads by any other name). Now
that Labor is back one of their election promises was to resurect SEQTA, so
whats happening, please explain? :)
