The same crew will be bringing the train back, so there is no need for them
to do a stocktake, etc - they just throw all the cash into the bag and put
the bag into the safe - they do all that work the following afternoon before
arriving in Sydney.

Similiarly with the Melbourne XPT - the Senior Passenger Attendant leaves
the train in Melbourne and has to balance the cash - so there is an excuse
for them to close up a bit early. What is totally INEXCUSABLE is the
Brisbane XPT closing early - it is worked by a GRafton crew that turns
around, so they do not have to stocktake, they do not have to balance the
cash, etc. I have also seen this happen on the Murwillumbah run, where the
buffet closed at Byron Bay. I mentioned it to a Sydney based PSS and he said
that the Grafton crews are a law unto themselves and do what they like with
no control from Sydney.
