Not true. The tramway was a separate line from the railway.
The original line to Brighton Beach junctioned from the Flinders St-St Kilda
line just north of St Kilda station and crossed St Kilda Road on a bridge to
Windsor and then via the existing route to Brighton Beach. The section between
St Kilda and Windsor was closed immediately after the line via Sth Yarra was
built.
