The other way round originally ( heading form 2pos to 3pos). Nowadays
they pop up in other situations. On the west SG there are four
repeaters - 
one on the up approaching Newport (heading from 2pos to 3pos).
one on the up and one on the down 'protecting' the CRT siding (G/Y =
clear normal; Y/Y = stop and inspect switchlock).
one one the up approaching North Geelong (heading from 2pos to 3 pos)
(NB there isn't one for the same move in the opposite direction.)
