NO. WRONG. When the EL class went into service in 1990
their priorities were;

1. High speed express goods.
2. Passenger service.
3. Express goods.
At that time the max for an EL on concrete track
was 115 Kph. There was a note that the speeds
were provisional, they *remained* until the end of
Australian National.

Australian National were planning to run high speed
goods @ 140 kph, the East Coast Federal Labor "rail
mafia" decided on National Rail Corporation.
Exit the EL's running express freight at 140 on AN home
tracks, by NRC.!

The small number of EL's were originally intended to do
high speed freight, NOT passenger, contrary to gunzel
belief, the DL's were on the Ghan more than the EL's
ever were, until the CLP's

The EL's double headed, often appeared in Alice Springs
on inter-modals.

Please prove your point that the EL class loco of
Australian National was a Passenger Loco.
