QR have been searching for 2 suitable standard gauge locomotives for some
time to haul the NSW leg of
the GSEPE. The lease option was considered more appropriate as the long term
ststus of the GSEPE
is unknown. As I understand it these units would remain on the standard
gauge and work QR services
south of brisbane. Now if all of this is true I can only wonder if they may
also be used for a Sydney bound
Queenslander service perhaps?
