A freight train derailed in southern NSW this morning blocked three tracks
of a major railway interchange. Five carriages from a National Rail
Corporation train travelling from Brisbane to Dynon in Victoria derailed at
Junee at 8.08am (AEDT).

There were no injuries, an ambulance spokeswoman said.

The accident occurred where the Riverina Line intersects with Olympic Way.
CityRail spokesman Wayne Geddes said some of the containers on the train
were flung onto platforms at Junee Railway Station. He said three tracks had
also been blocked but other tracks were open through the town.

A fire brigade spokesman said crews were at the scene to ensure there was no
hazardous material on board the train. He said one box car was lying on its
side and a signal gantry had been wrecked.

CityRail's Countrylink XPT train travelling from Sydney to Melbourne this
morning would not be affected by the derailment, Geddes said.

It was the second train derailment in NSW in a week.
