Glenbrook..... What was said?

Hi All

I have read the threads about the accident at Glenbrook, with interest, and
from my perspective as a driver, the true cause of the accident will be
revealed when the conversations between Penrith Box and the Driver of W534
become known... I feel that it *may* come down to the what was actually said
by the signaller at Penrith, and whether the Driver of W534 was warned that
WL2 was ahead.... it seems reasonable to me that if you are informed there
is a train ahead in an automatic area, you proceed past a stick at stop
lookin very hard for that train that is ahead...

The conversation between the signaller and the driver is very important,
*if* he was told that the signals had failed and there was no mention of
another train in the section ahead the last thing the driver would be lookin
for would be another train... he would be lookin for broken rails etc...

Another thing to remember is that the signal W534 passsed at stop prior to
running into WL2, was showing a stop indication, as it should when the track
ahead is occupied...

I am ont trying to blame or absolve anyone from blame, but it seems to me
that communications may have a large role to play in this accident... It is
f***ing ridiculous that the driver of a City Rail train cannot talk to
drivers of trains of other operators, because of different radio systems....
