The rules governing certain dwarf signals at places like Murtoa and Dimboola are - the train
may accelerate to line speed once the train has cleared the turnout or crossover. A train
passing the dwarf leading from Murtoa yard to the Hopetoun line would not want to travel at
15 km/h to the next signal which is at Warracknabeal. The rules about speeding up is
relevant in the suburban area and certain other closely signalled lines but it is not a
blanket rule.
