You still have regulated prices for monopolies?

The power, gas, phones and water systems here have been or are
privatised, ie, they have been or are being sold to the highest overseas
bidder, which has promptly cranked up the prices. Trans Alta bought
about half the country's power suppliers over the past year and today
announced a 15pc price rise. Edison Light & Power has just got its hands
on a chunk more. There are no bloody regulatory bodies here at all,
price gouging is perfectly legal. There is no open access to the rail
system... it was sold to Wisconsin with exclusive rights to the tracks
for $1 a year and it won't let anyone else use them, effectively
stopping dead plans for light rail in Auckland.
