This probably doesn't work with the machines. What if you need to change
platforms at Caulfield - eg platforms 1 to 4, where there are gates?

I bet the machines don't work this either. It's okay for stations of course,
where you would have entered the fare paid area before the service was due. But
what about buses and trams?

Re: the first bit - I asked someone at Melbourne Central about that as we came
through a gate with 5 minutes left on a 2 hour ticket. He waved us on, so I
guess it's implied!
