ISTR a suggestion that the NSW coding sceme was set up to be more user
friendly for Morse Code which was the main means of communication then. Who
knows if this was true. There was a mythical character created in reference
to NSWGR coding called Mal Cody.

The basic passenger scheme was as follows:

B First class
F second class
C First & second class (Composite)
A Sleeper
H Guard's accommodation
R Refreshments

But there were a lot of oddties.

The goods sceme was totally different except for brake vans. All goods brake
vans had the letters HG in their code.

Ah, the good old days!
