I'm glad they are using a logical and easy to remember system!
In NSW we use the following system: (Briefly described)

The first letter indicates the destination or origin of the train.
C = south Coast
H = Metropolitan area
N = North
S = South
W = West

The second letter indicates the type of train.
D = Diesel light engine.
E = Electric loco hauled.
J = tilt train (SJ Railways)
L = Loco hauled passenger train (diesel)
N = eNdeavour.
P = xPlorer
R = Railcar
S = Steam hauled passenger train
T = xpT
X = Electric light engine.
Z = Steam light engine.
