Paxman Engines Ltd became part of the GEC Alsthom Diesels Group many years
ago.

The latest version of the Valenta 12RP200 is rated at 2500kW (3400hp) 
gross, which would mean about 3000hp available for traction. A pair of 
XPs with these engines could the same hills at much higher speeds, or 
run with 11 trailers in between them and hold the current schedules.
