A77 on 9141: An Unusual Working

The down Merbein superfreighter (9141) passes through Sunshine every
weekday evening about 7.00pm, usually hauled by X+X(+X), X+X+T or G+X
combinations.

It's notable (1) because it leaves Melbourne via the passenger lines
through Sth Kensington, Footscray and Sunshine (rather than via the
goods lines through Tottenham Yard) and (2) it's now the only goods
train to Ballarat and beyond that travels via Ballan (everything else
goes via Nth Geelong).

Tonight the locos were A77+X52+X40: it may have happened before, but
I've never seen an A on this train before, much less leading.

A shortage of Gs perhaps?

Regards

Yuri
