Re: Overland Cars coming east (then west....)

As a slight variation to this particular thread, from my understanding West
Coast Railway (WCR) has always intimated that they would be interested is
running passenger trains to any destination within Victoria, notably through
being awarded the contract by the government (in the same way as they currently
operate the W'bool line). Some people may also remember a proposal they put
forward some time ago to operate the W'bool freights (I think it is only one
daily) on behalf of V/Line simply due to crewing issues.
I think that they have also indicated that they would like to operate charter
services, trips etc, either with steam or diesel. They are presently
overhauling some steam engines for work, with some suggestions that the R might
even work the W'bool service on special occasions, or at weekends etc.

They have certainly suggested in the past that they would like to re-introduce a
service to Mildura, probably a night service, either on a charter or special
occasion basis, or as a normal service. The most likely scenario is that they
would only operate weekend services, probably out to Mildura Friday night and
come back Sunday afternoon/evening.
It is more probable that these cars might be see themselves being used on such a
service to Mildura, or some sort of charter work.
