Scully gets out his broom

For what it's worth, the NSW Light Rail Strategic Plan has been removed from
the Department of Transport's website. The document, the work of the DoT's
own Public Transport Advisory Council, advocated the implementation of light
rail in several key public transport corridors. The document was commissioned
in the days of Brian Langton, who has since been replaced by Carl Scully, who
also retains the roads portfolio.

Scully has since ignored the recommendations of the PTAC, and proposed busways
(and cheap ones at that) for two of the Western Sydney corridors previously
identified for light rail. Someone seems to have finally realised that having
the strategic plan on the DoT's website could be quite embarassing for the
minister and, alas, it has been swept under the carpet.

A question. Does anyone know of an occasion where, since becoming the
Minister for Transport, Mr Scully has actually been on a train or a tram in
any situation that is not directly linked to the 2000 Olympics?
