Re: XPT failed again

For a NR Driver to be qualified for an NR Class loco it is a 3 day school
plus road trial, and an additional 1 day school for the communications
system alone.

The shear cost alone would be prohibitive, and also due to the fact that
the FC or C/L crews would only ever be on them once probably once in
their lifetime and only then for their trial.

If a fatality occurred where an NR crew was involved, and the only crew
to relieve them was a FC crew, they would be allowed to crew the loco at
that location only.

They would not be allowed to move it, until a NR crew arrived to relieve
them.

NR could haul the XPT dead I guess, but there would be no problem with
qualified drivers, if NR train crews ran the XPT's and other loco pass's
under contract to CountryLink.
