Sydney - Taree is just over 5 hours (except I just noticed that NT1 skips
some stops and is a bit quicker).

There are three XPTs a day that go Sydney to Taree, one of which continues
to Brisbane...

If you want to stop at each place (Newcastle, Taree, Brisbane), I don't
believe there is a single ticket that works this way, you could get three
tickets for the seperate sections.
