Once again, a plan for putting in a tram system has been proposed for
Canberra, this time in conjunction with a plan for 'revitalising' the Civic
(downtown) area. It is envisaged the tram system would link the new yet to
be built National Museum (on the Acton pensinsula where the hospital was
imploded) with Civic, and also serve the Australian National University, so
would be a rather short line, probably about 3km or so in length. For
rollingstock, it was proposed to use withdrawn Melbourne W class cars now
in storage.
