I somehow doubt that the W class design would have based on a Griffin design,
unless he published the design before 1906.
The W class trams are a development of the earlier drop centre cars built from
1907 onwards. Such trams are still in use in Ballarat by the Ballarat Tramway
Preservation Society (and occasionally by the Bendigo Trust in Bendigo).
