These announcements have been the go for a number of years now on the
Hurstbridge line with announcements to change for Epping line on the
approach to Clifton Hill. It still amazes me that drivers (or more to
the point the person who says which announcements to make where) think
that there will be enough people changing to go up the Epping line to
warrant an announcement but not enough wanting to go to stations
Victoria PArk to W Richmond to warrant not making one.
The all time classic used to be the driver who would put on a 'pilot'
type deep voice, do the announcement on approaching Flinders Street
about thanking people for travelling on the xx.xx (insert time from
originating station here) from Hurstbridge this morning and then proceed
to read the quote from his desk calendar for the day (at least thats
what it sounded like). The reaction in the carriage ranged from not sure
what to do to laughing out loud.
