Railcars

In a previous message, mention was made of QR's proposal to reinstate
railcars on the Helidon service. Whilst this is positive news, are there
any plans to improve the 2000 class flee? They seem to be fundamentally
sound railmotors, that work weel. However, they are rather hot in summer
and could do with airconditioning. Also, maybe some modifications to the
engine to turbo charge it (ie. 2300 class locos) and improve its
acceleration and top speed (say 120km/h) would improve its performance.
As an aside, what is its top speed?

As the 2000 class seem to be back in vogue with QR, maybe all the
existing fleet could be modified. Besides the Rosewood-Helidon service,
a revamped, airconditioned rail motor service could operate between
Townsville and Cairns and also on quasi suburban services in Cairns,
Townsville and Rockhampton. Unless QR were to order some new Railcars.

Cheers
