The deluge was just after dusk, and most areas were flooding within 15
minutes.

I heard one guy on ABC radio this moening say that the coast road was
passable late last night, but there was still a lot of debris on it.
Several cars had been washed into the ocean by land and mud slides.

Luckily there has only been one fatality. It could have been a lot worse.
Imagine if a bus or a train had been hit by a mud slide.
