Troubles with the Indian Pacific Express, old & new

G'day.

The last Australian National Indian Pacific Express departed Sydney on
time on Thuesday 30/10, hauled by CLP12 & CLP9. Apparently, there
was trouble along the way, as the train arrived in Broken Hill some
two hours late, with FreightCorp unit 8155 leading the two CLPs.

The first GSR Indian Pacific Express left Broken Hill FIVE HOURS LATE
and is likely to terminate at Lithgow. It was hauled by NR51 &
NR108. So, don't go looking for it around Sydney tomorrow!

At this stage, there is some doubt as to how far the NR class will
normally work the train. There are suggestions that the NR class
will not work the train into Sydney, but I guess we will find out on
Thursday, now!

That is, unless some of our NR browsers can fill us in on the planned
motive power arrangements for GSR!

Regards

Pete..
