Michael,
Platform PIDS and automatic PA have been turned off at Mitcham and maybe
other locations because the software (PRIDE 2) that run those things
have quite a few problems. Some of these problems are getting close to
become occupational health and safety issues, if the software bugs are
not rectified soon. Put simply, the software regularly refuse correct
data you have just entered or worse, ghost trains cannot be removed from
screen. Thus those "uncontrolable" train delay announcements appear
when in fact the trains are on time!!
