Interesting that various Sydney bus operators encourage use of
multi-trip tickets by several people, e.g. Traveltens for STA services
and the smartcards for Glenorie Bus Co. Presumably they find it is both
commonsense and a positive marketing feature. Presumably those aspects
also explain why it is not in favour in Melbourne.
