Yes, I agree that taking action could result in injury. But as a Station
Officer in Melbourne, I find it often helps just to take a walk along the
platform and make your presence known. That way they know that you are
there. You don't even need to make eye contact or say anything. That way
they don't feel antagonised and often will stop simply because of the
uniform. This doesn't always work, but at least you have done something...
