Re: [Trams] Grand Unions in Australasia

About 50 years ago (ohmigawd..) N-E was used for what was the 67
route. These trams came from the direction of Dandenong Road, turned
east for 200m, then crossed back to form the 67 (W-N then along Dandy
Road) - mainly for the east St Kilda school kids. I think it ran only
in the am peak, mainy using W3 ("tall trams") cars.

There was also a part-time route there - 14, I think.

In those days, the 62 and 64 ran Hawthorn Road/Balaclava Road. Soon
after (mid-fifties?) they were rerouted via Dandenong Road, so the
need for the 67 vanished. The 4D, which made a N-E (and W-S) turn
there was rerouted and went straight thru on Balaclave, so 1/4 of the
junction was not then used.

67 is somewhere else now...on my old #4 route.
