My wife and children travelled on the very first IP to Sydney from
Adelaide.  They caught the train from Adelaide to Peterborough to joiin
it, and then to Sydney.

My son, who was about seven at the time, thinks they had to transfer to
a bus just out of Sydney but can't remember why - possibly a derailment
on the suburban line.

Is there any record of that?  Does anyone know why?
