Re: Weekly Metcards - was Yarra Trams Article in Sunday Age

when we were in Melbourne recently, we stayed out in Zone 2 territory, so
the whole family had weekly tickets, as we had to deliver my daughter to her
ballet school near FSS every day. Even though the machine at our originating
station was cactus, we managed through a combination of the friendly milk
bar owner acorss the road and the next station a couple of k's further in -
took the precaution of making our purchases the night before rather than the
morning peak.

We travelled every day, and on one day my younger son and I spent the whole
day riding trams and trains [40 deg. outside and we managed to strike a/c
stock on every one but the last tram in from Camberwell to FSS]. even a zone
extension to visit Puffing Billy only cost four of us about $10 all up.
Great value for us - we would have spent easily the equivalent in fuel and
parking fees otherwise.
