Trams will never be as fast as trains. If people are serious about speeding
them up, the first things they need are traffic light priority and some
effective separation from traffic (together with measures like turn bans).
Best to have a frequent, reasonably fast service rather than doubling the
waiting time for passengers - and if they want to get on at an even stop and
off at an odd one......
